Careers in metalworking discussed in a new “Champions of Industry” segment with host Jimmy Johnson
The current population of skilled workers is aging out, so there is a mounting need for people who want to weld, solder or enter into similar types of metalworking occupations. Metalworkers work with a variety of metals to assemble parts for everything from jewelry, to cars, to electronics, to such large-scale infrastructures as bridges and buildings.
People in this industry must have a working knowledge of metallurgy, as well as other skills to help them understand how different metals react to heat, pressure and chemical substances. Metalworking hopefuls often enter the industry by going to vocational school, or by doing an apprenticeship and learning the craft from people who are more knowledgeable.
Join Jimmy Johnson on the “Champions of Industry” as he delves deep into the world of metalworking. The show will cover the ins and outs of the field and what it takes to break in and burgeon in the industry.
Champions of Industry is not distributed via PBS. It is instead shared with public television stations across the United States. For more information about the show, visit http://www.championsofindustry.com
